THE BLACK QUEEN HYPOTHESIS

“The Black Queen Hypothesis, also called the Black Queen Principle, is.
“A species needs constant change and adaptation in order to exist in an environment that is constantly evolving with it.”
The term comes from Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Looking Glass,” from Alice’s dialogue with the Black Queen:
“With us,” said Alice, struggling to catch her breath, “when you run long and hard, you’re bound to end up somewhere else.
– What a slow country! – The Queen cried out. – Well, here, you know, you have to run as fast as you can just to stay in the same place.
The Queen of all colors is black. But, what makes black dominate all other colors? It’s simple. It doesn’t dominate, it absorbs them.
